Free Technical Assistance Now Available for Small Businesses

The Alton Economic Development Corporation is excited to share a new opportunity for Texas-based small businesses to receive up to 40 hours of FREE technical assistance through the Small Business Assistance Technical Outreach Program (SATOP) in partnership with the Texas A&M Capstone Design Program.

This program connects qualifying small businesses with senior engineering students from Texas A&M University who help design solutions and develop academic prototypes over one to two semesters. The assistance is intended to support businesses facing complex technical challenges that cannot be solved with their current resources.

Program Highlights

  • Up to 40 hours of free technical assistance

  • Support provided by Texas A&M senior engineering students

  • Focus on engineering and technical problem-solving

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, businesses must:

  • Be a Texas-based small business with fewer than 500 employees

  • Have a distinct technical challenge

  • Possess a patent, provisional patent, prototype, or engineering drawings

  • Designate a point of contact for communications

  • Note: IT-related challenges are not eligible under this program SATOP FLYER
