New 2026–2027 Texas Business Licenses & Permits Guide Released
The Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, in coordination with the Governor’s Office of Small Business Assistance and the Business Permit Office, has released the updated 2026–2027 Texas Business Licenses & Permits Guide to support new and existing businesses across the state.
Texas is home to more than 3.5 million small businesses, and this guide serves as a valuable tool to help entrepreneurs determine which state-level licenses and permits may be required to operate legally within Texas. The guide outlines permitting requirements by business activity and includes contact information for the appropriate state agencies.
Business owners are reminded that, in addition to state requirements, local permits and licenses may also be required at the city and county level. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to contact their local government offices to ensure full compliance.
The City of Alton Economic Development Corporation and the Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce remain committed to supporting local entrepreneurs by sharing timely resources, offering guidance, and connecting businesses with available assistance.
For questions or support related to local business requirements in Alton, businesses are encouraged to reach out to local economic development and chamber representatives.
