Alton Puts Every Local Business on the Map with Free Digital Facade Audits

The Alton EDC and Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce launch a free, bilingual program that shows business owners how customers see them online and provides personalized guidance to improve their digital presence.

ALTON, Texas — October 5, 2026 — Before most customers ever walk into a local business, they encounter it online—its hours, photographs, reviews, phone number, and website.

Beginning today, every business owner in Alton can quickly evaluate that first impression and learn how to improve it. The Alton Economic Development Corporation and Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce have launched Digital Facade, a free online business audit available at scan.altonchamber.org.

The audit evaluates a business’s overall digital presence and provides a score out of 100 based on nine key indicators customers commonly review online. Owners receive their score, an explanation of how weaknesses may affect customer visibility, and a prioritized list of recommended improvements in English or Spanish. No registration is required to receive an initial score.

“Our small businesses are the heart of Alton, and today their front door is on Google. Too many great family businesses here are invisible online, so customers drive past them to somebody they can find. Digital Facade changes that. Every owner in Alton gets a clear score, a simple plan, and a team that will help them get it done. When our businesses show up, people shop here, and those dollars stay in Alton.”

Ivan Gonzalez, CEO
Alton Economic Development Corporation

The program begins with a citywide baseline. The Alton EDC has already evaluated the publicly available online presence of 194 Alton businesses, resulting in an average score of 48.5 out of 100. A total of 124 businesses scored below 60, while 10 businesses have already achieved a score of 90 or higher.

The most common opportunities for improvement involve customer reviews, websites, photographs, and accurate business information—all areas that can be strengthened through practical guidance and consistent follow-through.

That assistance will be provided locally. Chamber and EDC staff will visit participating businesses with a printed bilingual report card, guide owners through recommended improvements, and conduct follow-up audits to track progress.

Businesses that reach a score of 90 or higher will earn a Digital Facade Certificate, presented in person by the Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce.
