Connecting With the Next Generation of Talent
Alton EDC and Greater Alton Chamber participate in UTRGV’s Fall 2026 Career & Internship Expo
The Alton Economic Development Corporation and Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce recently participated in the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Fall 2026 Career & Internship Expo.
The event provided an opportunity to meet UTRGV students, learn about their professional interests and career goals, and introduce them to the programs, resources, and opportunities available through Alton EDC and the Chamber.
Throughout the expo, students visited the Alton booth to discuss entrepreneurship, business development, internships, and ways they can become more involved in the region’s growing business community. The team also shared information about Alton’s entrepreneurship programs and the support available to individuals interested in starting or growing a business.
“Connecting with students gives us an opportunity to better understand what the next generation of professionals is looking for,” said Ivan Gonzalez, CEO and President of the Alton Economic Development Corporation. “It also allows us to introduce them to entrepreneurship, local businesses, and the many opportunities being created right here in our region.”
Participation in the expo reflects Alton EDC’s continued commitment to workforce development and to building stronger connections between education, local businesses, and future professionals.
These relationships help students explore career possibilities while giving employers and economic-development organizations greater insight into the skills, interests, and expectations of the region’s emerging workforce.
The Alton EDC and Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce thank UTRGV for organizing the Fall 2026 Career & Internship Expo and for creating a valuable space where students, employers, and community partners could connect.
A special thank-you also goes to every student who stopped by the Alton booth, shared their goals, and learned more about the opportunities and resources available in our community.
