City of Alton Economic Development Corporation Signs MOU with Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP)
Alton, Texas – [11/05/25] — The City of Alton Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP), a FREE state-funded initiative that connects small businesses and entrepreneurs with engineers from the U.S. space industry to solve technical challenges and foster innovation.
Through this collaboration, the Alton EDC will promote SATOP’s program locally to help Alton’s entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and innovators gain access to world-class engineering expertise at no cost. This partnership underscores the city’s commitment to advancing technology-driven economic development and creating new opportunities for local business growth.

The SATOP initiative provides technical assistance to small businesses and inventors by utilizing the expertise of engineers from NASA centers, aerospace companies, and universities. The program has a long track record of success in helping entrepreneurs overcome technical hurdles and bring innovative products to market.
The Alton EDC will be working with SATOP to promote awareness of the program, host informational sessions, and encourage local business owners to apply for technical assistance.
